What is Microneedling?
Also known as collagen induction therapy, microneedling is a facial treatment where controlled wounds are created in the skin using a pen with micro needles to promote cell turn over and collagen production. The micro needles will create a perfect puncture into the skin which will stimulate the regeneration of the skin cells.
What are the benefits of Microneeedling?
It’s the number one anti-aging treatment at the moment since it provides quick results. It tackles so many skincare concerns on a deeper level without requiring downtime. The benefits are endless but new collagen production, plump and tight skin, reduction of fine lines and wrinkles , acne scars and stretch marks are the most popular.
How often are Microneedling treatments needed?
For best results the skin needs to regenerate and complete its cycle before being able to start again. This means you need a minimum of 6 weeks between treatments to give the skin a chance to rejuvenate. Microneedling treatments are cumulative and so you will see the appearance of the skin improve as the treatments are completed over time.
How long is the procedure?
Entirely depends on the size of the area. Having the procedure done for your entire face should take no more than 30 minutes. Smaller surface areas like your cheeks should be less than 15 minutes.
Is Microneedling painful?
Microneedling can be slightly uncomfortable but not particularly painful. Our trained professionals have many years experience in performing this treatment and tend to make the experience remarkably comfortable.
What are the side effects of Microneedling?
Most common side effect to expect is plumping of the skin and redness, almost like a light sunburn immediately following the procedure. These side effects are temporary and will eventually subside within just a few days.
Microneedling aftercare
You will need to avoid excessive sun exposure. Sunscreen is recommended as the skin will be more sensitive to sun rays after the treatment. Avoid touching your face and if you must, be sure to wash your hands first. Do not use any makeup within 24 hours following microneedling procedure.
Is Microneedling at home safe?
No. Microneedling must be performed by a professional and should not be done at home. The device used and the angle at which a trained professional will perform the micro punctures into the skin is what will prevent a tear or damage of the skin. Incorrect use of this treatment can result in disastrously irreversible effects.
